In order to access IMVS reports via direct dialing to your modem, you will need some communication hardware and UUCP software for your computer.

Communication hardware

This is simply a standard computer modem and telephone line. If you will be dialing into the IMVS, the modem and even the line can be used by other things (such as the fax machine using the line).
UUCP Software

UUCP (Unix to Unix Copy) is a standard method of transfering information between Unix computers. Therefore we can send reports to almost any Unix computer without the need for additional software.

A free software package called 'UUPC' is available for PCs to enable them to communicate natively with Unix computers. We have created a setup program that will install and configure UUPC to receive IMVS reports. Please see our Setup Procedures page for details on installing this program.

Other software packages are available to allow other platforms (for example Macintoshs) to communicate via the UUCP method
