Leukaemia gene breakthrough by IMVS researchers

A blood cancer gene defect that runs in families has been discovered by Professor Hamish Scott and his team from the Centre for Cancer Biology at IMVS Pathology.  In this important breakthrough, they have identified genetic mutations in the GATA2 gene.

Grant awarded for SA Cancer Genomics Facility

IMVS Pathology's Centre for Cancer Biology has successfully won a bid to establish the South Australian Cancer Genomics Facility, with $3.5 million awarded by the Australian Cancer Research Foundation, $1.05 million from the South Australian Government and $525,000 from Cancer Council SA.

IMVS Pathology scientist named Officer of the Order of Australia

John Mulley, an IMVS Pathology medical scientist, was named an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in the 2011 Queen's Birthday Honours for his distinguished service to medical science as a leading researcher in human genetics.  An article and video featuring John is available on the Adelaide Now website.

Unique working environment for autistic staff

In 1996, an initiative of former IMVS Pathology employee, Peter Lee and Autism SA created work within the Media Production Unit in the Microbiology and Infectious Diseases Laboratories of IMVS for a group of six individuals with various degrees of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
