Professor Ruth Salom joined the IMVS in 2008 as Executive Director and reporting pathologist. She has over 20 years experience in both public and private health sectors. Ruth’s previous roles include Managing Pathologist, Victorian Cytology Services and as a Board Director at Peninsula Health in Melbourne.
After graduating in medicine and medical science with honours from Monash University, Professor Salom trained in anatomical pathology, where she developed an interest in dermatopathology and gynaecological pathology, specialising in gynaecological oncology.
She completed an MD in the Department of Pathology and Immunology, Monash University and furthered her research in the area of transplantation, at Hammersmith Hospital, London.
Professor Salom completed a Master of Business Administration at Melbourne Business School and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She has won numerous awards and honours for postgraduate studies and research.

Associate Professor Heddle has held senior clinical posts as a Clinical Immunologist/Allergist at the RAH, FMC, RGH and WCH, and until 2003 was also in private consultant rooms practice. He then took a position as Director of Allergy at FMC.
He moved in August 2008 to the position of Head of Clinical Immunology IMVS/RAH before taking on the role as Chief Pathologist, IMVS in March 2010.
He has been active in many professional associations, with ongoing roles as Convener of RCPA QAP in Allergy, Chairperson of SA IVIG Users' Group, Deputy Chairperson of ASCIA Anaphylaxis Working Party and active roles in ASCIA Insect Allergy Working Party and MAC for Asthma SA.

Paul graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Science from Charles Sturt University and a Graduate Diploma in Management through Deakin University.
He was a committee member and treasurer of the SA Branch of the Australian Institute of Medical Scientists (AIMS) for over 10 years, possessing a keen interest in continuing education for medical scientists.
Paul has over 30 years experience working in many areas of diagnostic pathology. Over the past 15 years, he has managed large pathology laboratories throughout the metropolitan area. Paul has also acted as a relieving scientist across a number of laboratories as an IMVS employee.
As well as Chief Scientist, Paul is currently the Directorate Manager of Surgical Pathology.

Madelyn obtained her Associate Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science from the University of South Australia, and has extensive experience in both public and private pathology.
She has worked in the disciplines of cytology, haematology, chemistry, blood banking, SRA, client services and patient services, and has held supervisory and management roles in a number of these areas.
Her main areas of expertise are customer relations and marketing, having held senior positions within the health industry in South Australia and running her own retail business for a number of years.
