Gene Sequencing

Overview
The facility currently offers the following services for clinical and laboratory staff:
- Capillary Electrophoresis of sequencing samples using Applied Biosystems 3730 and 3730xl instruments; basic analysis and editing of results is included.
- Electronic transfer of results using zip files. For your own analysis of these files we recommend Chromas or FinchTV
- Fragment Analysis of fluorescently-labelled samples (e.g. MLPA, Snapshot, Genotyping) using Applied Biosystems 3730 and 3730xl instruments; addition of size marker is included.
- Fast turnaround time, typically the day after samples are received.
- Troubleshooting and advice on getting the best from your results.
For the prices of our services, please call 08 8222 3129.
Please note that the samples sent to us should be cleaned using ethanol or isopropanol precipitation and should be thoroughly dried before being sent. Alternatively, samples can be cleaned using X-terminator. We accept samples in most containers; 1.5ml tubes (preferred), plates, 8-strip 0.2ml microfuge tubes or loose 0.2ml microfuge tubes.
Submit data instructions
Electronic sequencing sample data is submitted to us via an Excel spreadsheet. When the spreadsheet is first opened you will be presented with the front page. Click on the 'Click here to submit samples for sequencing' link and you will be directed to the sample submission form.
This spreadsheet should then be printed for inclusion with your samples, and emailed to us.
Full instructions for using the data submission spreadsheet are available in PDF format.

Receive data instructions
Sequencing data files are uploaded to this web server by the laboratory staff, and then an email is sent to notify you of the new files. Files are kept on our server for 10 days before being automatically removed. Once you have downloaded a file, this time is reduced to 2 days.
You need to log in at the top of this page to retrieve your data.
