Open Letter to the Healthcare Community

28 April 2020

To the South Australian healthcare community,

We know that the last weeks and months have been tough for many of you, and that there are still challenges ahead for all of us.  We hope you and your families are safe at this time and our thoughts are with those in our community that COVID-19 has affected the most.

During these times, we want to reassure you that SA Pathology is standing with you, now and throughout the coronavirus crisis. SA Pathology has undertaken extensive testing within the public hospitals and community, and to date has tested over 2.5% of the population of South Australia, placing us as a world leader in terms of testing per head of population.

This is one of the many factors, along with our improved performance and a commitment to quality care, innovation and sustainability that has led to the recent announcement that SA Pathology will remain in public ownership.

SA Pathology is committed to the community, with our aim to ensure all South Australians have access to affordable, quality, comprehensive diagnostic testing services performed locally.

This includes ensuring that our collection centre network is located and accessible by those with the greatest needs, whilst also providing and supporting crucial COVID-19 sites across the state, including at The Repat, Tanunda Hospital and the Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre.

We welcome any opportunity to discuss our pathology services, including collection centres, with you at your convenience.  Please contact us at Health.SAPathologyMarketing@sa.gov.au to arrange a time.

Our commitment remains to the people of South Australia, to provide health practitioners with access to the state’s own comprehensive, integrated and accessible pathology service. It is only by working in partnership, can we continue to improve disease management practices and health outcomes for all South Australians.

Stay safe, stay well.

Regards
